It's Getting STEAMy at Parklawn
In STEAM class, students use skills from Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics to learn. Projects in STEAM emphasize innovation, design and aesthetics using a interdisciplinary approach to education. This is Parklawn's first year using STEAM and it's being developed by Dr. Steph Dean.
In class, lessons often start with an interactive read aloud or imagination workout before exploring an array of related tools. Students try different strategies and techniques to solve problems, such as building a tower, designing a sculpture for a park, analyzing the properties of different materials, or coding a robot to follow commands.
