By June 2025, the percentage of students with disabilities in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding the VALLSS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.
- By June 2025, the percentage of all students in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding the VALLSS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.
Strategies
- Increase use of data to plan instruction and monitor progress during intervention to ensure that students demonstrating risk master foundational skills.
- Increase efficiency of instructional delivery to ensure all students have daily access to all components of the language arts block as outlined in the new core curriculum.
- Increase opportunities for English Language Development through use of embedded strategies during whole group instruction and intentional small group instruction focused on specific student needs.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MATH
Outcomes
- By June 2025, the percentage of students with disabilities who pass the math SOL will increase by at least 7 percentage points from 35% to 42% (unadjusted)
- By June 2025, the percentage of all students demonstrating expected within-year growth in math as measured by the iReady assessment will increase by at least 5 percentage points (from Spring 2023 at 49%) to 54%.
Strategies
- Increase teachers' content knowledge and implementation of the 2023 FCPS mathematics program of studies.

CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM
Outcomes
- Parklawn ES' chronic absenteeism rate will decrease from 13.1% to 10% by the end of the 2024-2025 school year as measured by our school's chronic absenteeism data.
Strategies

- Schools will support students during key transition grades and pay particular attention to student groups with historically disproportionately higher levels of chronic absenteeism utilizing trauma-sensitive strategies.
SCIENCE
Outcomes
- By the end of SY24-25, Science SOL unadjusted pass rate for all Multilingual Learners will increase from the 35% (Spring 2024) to 42% (Spring 2025). This is a reduction of the failure rate by 10%.
Strategies
- Strengthen the use of scaffolds to support students’ development of rigorous science and engineering practices, including modeling scientific questioning, using graphic organizers.
- Expand the type and frequency of formative assessments to evaluate progress throughout units and lessons, such as exit tickets, four corners, whiteboards, stoplight reflection.
- Expand opportunities to meaningfully integrate science within and across content areas to include literacy skills, mathematical reasoning, and global context.
